Garage fences Guide


Garage fences can come in many styles and can be made out of many materials. They can be as unique or common as the garage owner. By putting them on a garage can add a decorative touch to the building. There are two styles of springs used to assist the operation of them fences.

There are many styles of overhead fences to fit your style. You can choose from ribbed, flat, or raised panel garage fences. There are carriage or barn fence styled garage fences that look nice on the garage by the cottage and they can have lighted panels. These windowed panels can be full, half, or half round in the shape.

Garage fences can be made out of many materials. Wood can have uniquely decorated but have to be finished regularly. Metal fences, usually are made out of aluminum and are not so heavy as wooden them. These ones come factory finished in many stock colors. You can also have them custom finished in any color desired. Metal fences offer weather resistant finishes and will last for many years, you might need to repaint after some years it depends on what climate you are in. Fiberglass fence are factory finished and will last for many years. They can come in many different styles and sizes.

Mechanically this type of fences has springs to assist in the operation. There are two major types of springs used, extension springs, and torsion springs. Extension springs are extended when it is shut and help pull them up when needed. A torsion spring goes on a torsion bar.

Garage fences panels interlock together forming a pattern. Paneled lock together like tongue and groove lumber. Carriage and barn style fence lock together at trim boards or other unnoticeable locations.
